SECURITY GATES

Access roadway shall be all-weather driving surface, not less than 20 feet of unobstructed width, capable of supporting the imposed loads of fire apparatus. Gate minimum width clearance shall be twelve feet (12') unobstructed. Gate shall open in direction of entry travel. Minimum vertical clearance thirteen feet six (13'6"). Lane approach forty feet (40') from center of street to gate.

EMERGENCY ACCESS

POWER ON

Uniform Emergency access must be provided for all 911 responders. This trigger device will be be powered by any 12 to 24 V DC or 16 to 24 V AC source. It must be efficient and draw less than 3.5 mA. NO or NC 1.5 amp dry relay activation; momentary (or switchable to) 15-minute hold. A hold open or latch option with a reset button can be included.

A microprocessor-based sound recognition system is designed to swiftly trigger any known brand of gate operator to open at the urgent 2.5 second sound of emergency vehicles' sirens.

This device is adjustable as to its sound sensitivity and controls the proximity requirement of the responder at the gate.

Each gate fitted with this high-tech device must display a suitable label or decal to remind the Fire, Police, or EMS responder that his SIREN is all the "key" he or she needs to enter the gated area.

POWER OFF

Gate must have a battery backup system for continuous duty OR open and hold gate open until line power is restored. In all cases, the gates must be 911 accessible.
